Corn oil is a source of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. It contains 54% of omega-6 and 28% of omega-9 fats according to Wikipedia. They lock water inside your hair thus making hair stronger and preventing dryness. Fats penetrate the hair follicles. Fatty acids are important elements of the cell structure as they help transport fat and their deficiency can cause hair loss.

Corn oil is source of vitamin E and vitamin K. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. It improves the blood circulation in the scalp, protects the hair from external damage, slow down the aging processes and fight free radicals. How to apply corn oil

Hot oil conditioning

You may apply corn oil to the hair and leave overnight. Or you may use corn oil as a hair conditioner.  It is a good idea to warm up the oil as it will penetrate the hair better. The oil amount depends on your hair length, but don’t add too much. A lot of oil can make your hair heavy or they may look greasy. And, moreover, keep in mind that corn oil may leave greasy spots on your clothes and linen so put on a plastic cap for shower every time you apply the oil as a mask component. Place a towel on the plastic cap to keep the warmth inside for better effect.

Hot oil massage

Heat corn oil for 20 seconds as then with your fingertips massage it into your hair. Try to massage the oil into hair follicles. Don’t use too much oil or the hair will be a bit greasy after it. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with a shampoo.

Carrier oil in aromatherapy

Corn oil can be used as carrier oil for tea tree oil or rosemary oil. Mix a tablespoon of corn oil with two drops of tea tree oil and apply on your hair for 15 minutes. Rinse with a shampoo. You will have the double effect from moisturizing corn oil and healing essential oil.

Addition to regular shampoo

Add a few drops to your regular shampoo every time you wash your hair. It will nourish your hair and make it glossy.
