The benefits of avocado oil for cooking are becoming a subject of wide discussion nowadays. It is an edible oil which is derived from the fruit of avocado tree. It carries a lot of healthy properties and perfectly replaces ordinary cooking oils that we are used to. Although it is not so popular as for example olive oil, using avocado oil for cooking can significantly vary your diet and enrich it with some additional important elements. Avocado oil is produced from cold pressed method which safes the flavor and nutritional content. It has mild and delicate flavor and goes well with fish, vegetables, meat and poultry. The smoke point of avocado oil is rather high – about 519˚F. It makes this oil be very stable when exposed to heat. There are two types of avocado oil – refined and unrefined. The first one is lighter in color and milder in flavor. It is used mostly for salads and frying. Unrefined oil has a deeper cloudy green color and a more intense taste and flavor. Generally avocado oil is used for all types of food and you can find a lot of avocado oil recipes. It should be mentioned that refined olive oil has milder flavor so it is preferable for baking or making salad dressings. You should remember though that it undergoes more processing during which it loses some of its health benefits. On the whole avocado oil perfectly replaces olive oil in its uses.

Avocado oil consists of almost 90 per cent of monounsaturated fats. It makes this oil good for heart and it can be a complete food as it contains all the necessary Vitamins and minerals needed for our body. This oil is rich in Vitamin E which makes it an effective antioxidant. Among other vitamins and elements are Vitamins A, B6 and D, iron, potassium, magnesium, alpha and beta carotenes, folic and amino acids, Omega 3 fatty acids and others.
